Portfolio is due on Monday.. we are now Thursday! I am just about finished. The only thing I have to do now is finish printing and write my artist statement. I am having the hardest time with it, I can't write about myself. Last night I was looking through some of last year's folders on my computer and found some stuff that I had completely forgot about! I took a break from trying to write my artist statement and did a quick edit on one of the images that I found. I also did some editing on an image for some models from Angie's Modeling.

I did my last photo shoot for my 2nd year portfolio yesterday. In a way it was really depressing. This is it. With this image I was trying to recreate the American Gothic painting but with my own twist. I still have to put in the background. Thanks again to Amanda Cava and Trevor Doe who were great models for this!

I had the pleasure of working with my friend Kim a couple of weeks ago for a Self- Directed shoot. I tried the Nikonos underwater camera for the first time and it was great! I haven't scanned any of the film yet but this is an image I have taken with the D3 after just to get a couple of shots outside the water as well.

I decided to reshoot the image I did of Jen. This one turned out SO much better, I think. Portfolio is 3 weeks away, the counting begins.

I had a chance to work with a great friend last week and we had some fun in the studio after the shoot. Here are a few.

It has been a busy month, and its only going to get busier as the school year comes to an end. I have been doing some research on mental health issues to help me better understand so I am able to produce better images for my portfolio. I also recently saw Shutter Island, and it completely blew my mind. I was getting to see how the clinically insane are portrayed in such an intense way. I recommend it. This is an image I was working on for the past week. It's a lot darker than most of the images I've posted so far, but I feel that this better represents what I was going for with my portfolio.

Our next assignment due is the Movie Poster. Seeing how my theme is "Madness/Insanity" I thought that the new Alice in Wonderland, Mad Hatter poster would be quite suitable! I am still working on it because there is still some tweeking and text to add.

We were given an assignment over the holidays to enter a contest for Elevator Digital. The theme was negative space. I decided to use this image for my portfolio as well. I'm going to be using it for my self portrait, because I decided not to use the other one that I had. This one will give my portfolio a better flo because I find it very static right now.
